On July 6, 2026, Godox announced the new flagships of its KNOWLED PL line: the PL600 RF and PL1200 RF, built squarely for cinema, commercials and studio work. And this time, the numbers deserve a close look.

PaletteLab: a nine-diode color engine

The real story isn’t the lux, it’s the color. These two heads debut PaletteLab, a full-spectrum engine with nine distinct color diodes claiming 92% Rec.2020 coverage and over 281 trillion reproducible colors. CCT runs from 1800K to 10,000K with ±100% green-magenta adjustment. The stated color metrics sit at the very top of the class: CRI around 98-99 with R9 near 99, TLCI ~99, TM-30 Rf ~97 and SSI D55 ~90. As always, a color meter on set will have the final say, but on paper we’re talking skin tones and midtones in the same league as far pricier cinema fixtures.

Power, output and the Bowens mount

The PL600 RF draws up to 730W and the PL1200 RF up to 1300W, both with the power supply built into the lamp head — one less ballast to rig and one less cable to run. With the BR30 reflector at 1 meter, Godox quotes 148,000 lux for the PL600 RF and 233,100 lux for the PL1200 RF in normal mode, rising to 160,000 and 240,300 lux in high-speed mode; bare bulb, the figures are 21,800 and 39,400 lux at 4300K. The mount is Flat Bowens, so most of the modifiers already circulating on sets keep working.

IP65 and production-grade control

The housing is IP65 rated — sealed against dust and water jets — and operates from -20 to +40 °C. Weight and bulk stay manageable: 8.7 kg (311×312×469 mm) for the PL600 RF and 11.3 kg (312×391×559 mm) for the PL1200 RF. Control covers everything a gaffer expects today: DMX/RDM, built-in LumenRadio CRMX, Ethernet with Art-Net and sACN, Bluetooth app control up to 30 meters and NFC. Three calibrated dimming curves (Godox, Blackbody, Daylight) and 14 FX effects round out the package.

Pricing: $1,990 and $3,490, shipping now

The kits — reflector, cable and case included — run $1,990 for the PL600 RF and $3,490 for the PL1200 RF, available at launch. In our view, that’s the most aggressive part of the whole announcement.

What it means for productions in Italy and Abruzzo

In the field, the 600-1200W class covers the vast majority of what documentaries, regional commercials and lighter drama actually need, and at these kit prices buying becomes a calculation rather than a dream. Our math stays the same, though: unless a fixture goes out at least 12-15 days a month, renting wins — no maintenance, no depreciation, and the latest generation always shows up in the flight case.

For anyone shooting in Abruzzo, the IP65 rating isn’t marketing talk: between high-altitude exteriors, windy hilltop villages and weather that turns in half an hour, a sealed housing rated from -20 to +40 °C means half-days saved.
