Description
Half the accessories running on a modern rig take the same fitting: the Sony NP-F series. The NP-F 960 battery is the high-capacity size in this family and powers field monitors, compact LED panels, follow focus motors, video transmitters and small recorders — often with runtimes beyond a full working day on light loads.
Compared to the smaller sizes (550/750) the body is deeper, but the watt-hour yield changes radically: on a 7-inch monitor it's the difference between swapping the battery at every break and forgetting about it until evening. The standard slide-in fitting mounts on any NP-F plate, including those with a dummy output.
At 5 euros a day of rental it pays to have plenty: we always add a couple of spares to the monitor and lighting kits we prepare for sets in Abruzzo.
