Description
When the horizon isn't a line but a mountain profile, a hard-edge grad stands out immediately. The NiSi IRND Graduated Soft Edge 4×5.65 kit instead works with a progressive gradient that blends into the elements of the scene: you pull the sky down two or three stops and no one, looking at the frame, could tell where the filter begins.
Like the whole NiSi cine line, the grads are 4×5.65" optical glass at 4 mm, compatible with standard matte boxes, with an IRND treatment that keeps colors neutral even at full densities and a nano coating that makes cleaning quick out on location.
In rental it's the natural companion to the hard-edge kit: many DoPs take them together and decide on the spot based on the scene. For anyone shooting between the Gran Sasso and the Majella, the soft version is almost always the right one.
