Some days a matte box is a luxury: gimbal, run & gun, lightweight rigs. The NiSi Variable ND Clamp-On Cinema Series 95mm clamps directly onto the 95mm front of cine lenses and covers 1.5 to 5 stops with a single ring, with firm hard stops that keep you inside the usable range.
The practical win is speed: sun-to-shade transitions handled in seconds, a fixed aperture to hold the depth of field you chose, and no 4x5.65 tray to wrangle. The nano coating sheds rain and fingerprints, no small thing when you're shooting on the coast or in the mountains.
