Description
Classic diffusion comes with a well-known side effect: it lifts the blacks and washes out contrast. The Tiffen Black Glimmer Glass Filter Set is made for anyone who wants the soft skin and gentle highlights of the original Glimmer Glass, but without giving up dense shadows and a structured image.
Dark particles in the glass absorb part of the diffused light, so the luminous veil stays confined to sources and highlights while the shadow areas hold. With the 1/8, 1/4 and 1/2 grades included, you can dial the effect in scene by scene: we suggest the 1/4 as a starting point on the sharper sensors.
It performs well in urban night exteriors and high-contrast interiors, where a white diffusion would read as too visible. Rental is €50 a day; for productions shooting in Abruzzo, delivery arrives straight to the camera truck.
