SWIT opened pre-orders for the Mini-150B on 1 September, with shipping announced for the third quarter of 2026. It is a 150 W bi-colour COB-LED the size of your fist — 104×104×125 mm, just under a kilo — and one thing sets it apart from the other mini-COBs around: the V-mount plate is built into the body. No bracket, no dangling D-Tap cable, no adapter to scrounge at the last minute.

What the spec sheet says

  • Two 150 W arrays (2700 K + 6500 K): full output at any colour temperature, not just mid-scale
  • 2700-6500 K continuous, CRI Ra 98, TLCI 98, SSI (D55) 73
  • 24,000 lux at 1 metre with the supplied reflector (5,400 lux bare bulb)
  • Mini Bowens mount, with a Mini-to-standard Bowens adapter in the box
  • Power your way: onboard V-mount battery, USB-C PD at 15/20/28 V, or the optional UC-150 mains adapter
  • Adjustable fan that can be switched off entirely for total silence, with output capped around 30 W in that mode
  • Listed pricing: 199 euro for the fixture, 49 euro for the 45 cm BA-D45M octagonal softbox, 49 euro for the UC-150 adapter

The number that actually matters

The 24,000 lux in the press release is measured with the narrow reflector fitted. Two lines further down, SWIT's own spec sheet quotes 2,000 lux at one metre with reflector and diffuser. That is a huge drop, and it is the figure you should be reading, because nobody points a bare COB at a face. On set that means: as an accent, as a practical in frame, as a kicker or as close-in fill indoors, it works very well. As a soft key on an interview in an already bright room, no — there you still want a real 300 W head.

Why we care about a light we don't rent out

Let's be honest: at 199 euro the Mini-150B is not rental stock, it is something you buy and keep in your bag. But it changes the maths on something we run into constantly on Abruzzo sets: power. Between the villages of the Fucino basin, the hilltop agriturismi and the high-valley locations, it is very common to have exactly one decent socket for the whole crew — and if the small lights run on battery, the runs from the generator or from that single power strip go to the big heads. With the V-mount already onboard, a 99 Wh battery (the size that flies) gives you roughly 40 minutes at full power: enough for an interview, not for a day. Bring three.

In our view this kind of light belongs alongside the big units, not instead of them: key with an Aputure LS 600x Pro or a Nanlite Forza 720, fill with an Aputure LS 300X, and put the small battery COBs where no cable reaches. If you haven't bought any yet, it still makes sense to rent them with the rest of the lighting kit for your first few jobs: you find out how many you actually need before spending.

Two things to check before ordering

First: SWIT requires a V-mount battery able to deliver at least 150 W continuously. Cheap 95-99 Wh cells often fall short or trip their protection under load, and at that point the light dims or shuts down. Read the maximum discharge rating, not just the watt-hours. Second: the mount is Mini Bowens, so your standard Bowens softboxes and domes only fit through the supplied adapter — and on a one-kilo body a large modifier moves the centre of gravity a long way. On a lightweight stand, counterweight it.
